"To Vote Is Your 'Constant Diligent Wipe' for the Society"
You go for a walk in a park and find no-see-ums biting you, so you walk while gently waving the umbrella in hand to expel them
and prevent yourself from their bites.
The Higher Spirit says,"Perhaps you think that this act only protects you from no-see-ums' bites;
however, it is more than what you think."
If everyone in the park walks around expelling no-see-ums with something in hand
such as bags, umbrellas, clothes ...... to avoid their bites,
then gradually, no-see-ums in this park will literally decrease and eventually disappear.
then gradually, no-see-ums in this park will literally decrease and eventually disappear.
Why is that?
(Because) if everyone acts in this way, no-see-ums will have nothing to bite.
It is the same as we humans without food to eat.
They will either die or run away. They will not stay here.
This act is the "constant diligent wipe" in a park.
By the same token, if God wants a place to make progress, He will give this place "untimely wind and rain",
making its inhabitants think and improve.
Therefore, "untimely wind and rain" is also a "constant diligent wipe" given by God.
From this example,
it is also clear about what God or Buddha means by "neither right nor wrong".
We all want favorable wind and rain.
However, in ease and comfort, human hearts will often lose gratitude
and become more and more greedy to corrupt social values. And yet, when wind and rain do not favor,
people will cherish and help each other,
and human hearts can experience more goodness instead. The trend of all things will be again in direction to their fulfillment in goodness.
Thus, how can a human soul return to clarity and health?
It also requires a "constant diligent wipe".
That is the reason why we always have joys and sorrows, separation and reunion, ups and downs, changes of the external mega environment ......
The "impermanence" may often disturb your comfort,
but on second thought, is it not due to impermanence that you can understand many truths that were once incomprehensible to you?
Therefore, that is why God or Buddha says, "The earth is a classroom".
The earth is the place where the soul learns;
therefore, many natural laws that you feel accustomed to,
in fact, are for the purpose of education,
one of which is sleep.
Why do almost all animals on earth need sleep?
The biological principle is that
the body needs deep rest at night to repair wear and tear in the daytime.
There is, however, a deeper reason, a spiritual cause ——
if your "mind" is greater than "heart" to a certain degree,
you will suffer from sleep problems,
which will force you to correct yourself.
No matter how rich, how successful you are,
no matter with how much fanfare you are during the day,
if you do not sleep well, you will be miserable at night.
This is a kind of "equality of all beings",
which will let you understand that
there is something in the world "greater than all external possessions",
and if you do not have it, it will be meaningless even if you have everything else.
And this thing, greater than all externals, is the "Tao" —— the balance.
People can lie to themselves, but you have no way to deceive this "Tao" ——
sleeplessness is sleeplessness.
Thus, "the need for sleep" is also one of the features of the earth classroom,
which exists in everyone and animals.
No matter how rich or poor you are,
it is equally conditioning everyone.
If your ideas or acts make you unbalanced and uneasy in all conscience,
then no matter how "correct" you think your idea is,
you will lose your sleep, and then you will be in pain and bound to fix it.
Thus, this design of "the need for sleep" will make you give your own acts a "constant diligent wipe" to achieve the learning purpose of a soul.
Therefore, in our last book,"The Omnipresent Treasure Sutra",
we once said that people coming to the earth are "forced" to learn.
If you do not learn, you will live in growing misery.
A simple allergy will make you unable to do anything,
or even end your life prematurely. (Note)
However, if you are willing to take the initiative to learn, complete your homework ahead of time,
and then achieve a life of increasing easiness and fulfilled wishes.
Then you will be on the path of "becoming Buddha".
The world you see from the "path of becoming Buddha" will be hopeful and "everyone can become Buddha".
Therefore, on the same earth, whether you take it to be an "evil world of five dregs", or a "world of treasure everywhere",
it is all up to you.
(Note) Please refer to the section ‘Natal Chart is Homework', P.22 ~ P.26 "The Omnipresent Treasure Sutra".
From His viewpoint, Buddha will appeal to you —— Just like a simple act of "continuously expelling no-see-ums", if carried out by everyone in the park, then the entire park will have a qualitative change; that is, all the no-see-ums will literally disappear! That is to say, everyone seems to be just driving away the no-see-ums around, but when everyone does, you all are actually creating a paradise without no-see-ums!
Thus, the person on the path to Buddhahood is the most romantic in the world. No one can make him give up these appeals and the enthusiasm to "take the initiative to devote himself". It is precisely the very pure goodness within his heart that he can be so romantic. When this person with many good thoughts, still somewhat egoistic though, thinks over such a vision, he will be very touched. No matter what others do or do not do, he will take the lead in practice and also want to help others to improve together. In the course of this practice, he will begin a series of learning about "black" and "white". He will discover within himself deeper confusion, a deeper mind and a deeper part of human nature in this world. When he crosses the layers in it and gets more and more clarity, one day he will be able to erase all the "sorrows" within himself and return to "all compassion". In this way he will attain the ultimate great enlightenment on earth, and after the end of this last life, he will directly merge into the Buddha world. (Note)
(Note) Extension —— A Single Class
"This Is How I Came to the Earth —— the Principle of Being Reborn"
Thus, for him on the path to Buddhahood, "constant diligent wipe" is that, when he is doing his "small good deeds", what he means at heart is that "Let's do it together. We can create a human paradise". When you are in "sorrow", you will laugh at them for being stupid, but Teacher would like to tell you that they only will enter heaven in the end.
Elections are also a kind of "constant diligent wipe" for the society. Only through regular elections, we have the opportunity to adjust many things. No matter who you support, Teacher do not mind. What matters is that if you give up voting, you are giving up your passion for "constant diligent wipe" for the society. Maybe you are in "sorrow" or just being lazy, but you can think about it reversely —— If a society has a very high voter turnout covering all ages and ethnic groups on average, is that a very significant message for all politicians no matter what political party they favors? Is it better for the balanced development of society? When you think like this and vote with such good thoughts of caring about the "entirety", you can cast only "one vote" though, and yet, your heart has cast yourself into that world of encompassing love.
